And a Winner

Yesterday, I didn't get around to drawing the name for the Nightmare Catcher Give Away until late and decided to wait until this morning to announce the winner.

Book of Secrets is the winner, and she requested Myrtle.  I'll get Myrtle in the mail when I have the address.  She's a raggedy little NightMare Catcher, but she's a hard worker and will hopefully dispatch bad dreams with alacrity.  At the same time, she will encourage pleasant dreams and peaceful sleep.
Rain yesterday and cooler temperatures!  Much appreciated.

I found this article particularly interesting as it follows some of my own thoughts:  Has the World Had Enough of the Olympic?  It isn't that I don't appreciate the will and dedication that the athletes put in, I do.  I continue to marvel at that talent and determination, and yet...so much seems to have gone wrong over the years.  I'll be watching certain events, but with a more jaundiced eye.

How are you feeling about the Olympics given what we continue to learn about the scandals, expense, abuse of athletes, cheating, and the threat of Covid ?

  1. I'm excited that Myrtle will be heading my way! Thank you. :-)

That's an interesting article about the Olympics. When I was a kid it was very exciting to watch, but I haven't had much interest in a long time. I do wonder what the younger generations will think about the games, like the article said, while the world’s on fire.

    1. :) Hope Myrtle will be an asset to peaceful sleep!
I know many people watch the Olympics religiously, but this year's events are troublesome. I sympathize with Tokyo this year--so many problems.

  2. Love your little creatures! I don't have a lot of interest in the Olympics. I may watch some gymnastics, but i am so bothered by all that goes on, in so many aspects and areas. I'm more apt to watch some of the winter games, when there isn't so much to do and life to live outside the house.

    1. Thanks, Debby!
I may watch some gymnastics, but even that makes me think of the Nassar scandal.

  3. Congrats to Myrtle!
I've never been much into the olympics but I do feel bad for the athletes and how already for some their dream may not happen due to the positive covid cases. Love the funny pic you posted of the chess game :)

    1. Only a few events have ever held interest for me, but all the athletes have worked for years to get there. The scandals, however, have lessened even the events I enjoyed.
I'm betting the Queen can take that Bishop!

  4. Myrtle looks like she is ready to catch all the nightmares and bad dreams that come her way. So cute. The world wants to move on, but they haven't contained the virus yet. Since they aren't willing to make the small sacrifices, the virus continues to rage on.

    1. :) I hope Myrtle does her job!
Yes, although they are talking about mask mandates again, I'm already hearing a lot of complaints about folks not planning to wear them. And our vaccination rates are low, so I guess we will be seeing hospitals overloaded again.

  5. Scrap the Olympics, I say. Altho I used to be an avid watcher, I haven't in 20 years. Too commercial, too political, too patriarchal, too 20th century, too damaging to the planet. And terribly corrupt.

    1. All of those are true. Poor Tokyo is already regretting their decision. Few cities have been successful financially, and all of the other problems make the games problematic.

  7. Congratulations! Myrtle is lovely.

I started making a Nightmare Catcher last night. The selecting and sewing things is a lot of fun. Thank you!

  8. I've been having the weirdest dreams lately. I think it's because I've taken Tylenol to help me sleep. My mother used to say that Tylenol made her dream. Love the meme!!!

    1. I use melatonin to help me get to sleep. Weird dreams puzzle us, don't they? Most of my dreams are like stories or books playing out, but every once in a while I have "that" dream about realizing I registered for a class and then didn't ever go and it's time for finals and how am I going to explain this to my parents! :)
