Some cheerfulness

Steven Heard's metal sculptures.  Mr. Heard taught himself to weld during lockdown and now makes bright and funny characters out of scrap to help cheer up his town.

There have been Christmas cards and Christmas letters that cheer me up, sometimes from the beauty of the card and always from the beauty of the letters.  I love seeing pics of kids and comparing them to earlier years.

Speaking of mail:   Bryce Eleanor finally received her card with the gift card in tact!  It took a week to travel a few miles, but thanks to our dedicated and overwhelmed Postal Carriers, it did arrive.  :)

This delightful postcard from my friend Zoe!  I love these four princesses!

The buttonhooks are on the tree.

  1. Jen, the metal sculpture is terrific. I imagine Mr. Heard’s town is loving his cheerful art.
It is wonderful that Bryce Eleanor’s birthday gift finally arrived. Not quite as nice as it would have been had it arrived on time, but better late than never, as they say.
How sweet your pen pal’s art postcard is! A budding young artist. You will be a great influence on her freedom to create.
A great collection of buttonhooks and a grand way of showcasing and sharing them.
Very on the mark Christmas Rules. Especially #2.

    1. Mr. Heard has the gift of whimsy, and I love that he shares it! I had given up on B.E.'s birthday gift, apologized, and said we would make it good...and got her text message that it arrived. :) Young Zoe makes a great pen pal. She takes after her grandmother Jacque, and I eagerly await her creative snail mail!

  4. #3 of the Christmas rules - haha! Right on.
Those metal sculptures are so fun and what a way to bring cheer. Your tree came out great too. And, the princess postcard is so sweet, I love what each one represents.

    1. Given the stuff I've consumed this month and the tightness of my waistband, it would be dangerous for anyone to comment on my weight! Those Cane River pecans--sugared, chocolate covered, and plain--were the beginning of my downfall, but my attitude of "must eat them all so then they will be gone" wasn't helpful. Merry Christmas, Iliana!

    1. I was, too! I think too many mail carriers have been overwhelmed with the volume of mail.

  7. Hello again, Jenclair! I've missed my blogging friends. Your tree is fabulous. I really need to look into those buttonhooks. I've said that before after seeing yours, though. We were quarantined and couldn't go shopping, so I managed almost everything from my armchair. Somehow it ALL arrived before Christmas. We had prepared the kids just in case. I feel badly for the postal workers and delivery folks. It would have been helpful to them had the stores sent several items in one box. But I don't know anything about how distribution works, and I imagine they are just happy to be working when so many aren't.
Here's hoping you enjoy the rest of the Christmas season and have a wonderful, safe 2021!
