 Good things:

* second vaccination.  Another good experience with the entire staff at Oschner's vaccination site.  (There were several days of exhaustion and naps following the shot, but nothing else.)

* garden prep progresses.  I dug up five shrubs (took all day and frequent breaks).

* Fee replanted shrubs along the side of the house (took about five minutes).

* Fee built a movable elevated bed for lettuces, etc.   It is on wheels :)  Love it!

* I've had fun with sketching.  A larger book sits on the desk; the small second one fits in my pocket.

looked up antique toys on line and copied some

I've always done a lousy job of folding fitted sheets and gave being too concerned a long time ago.  I try and fail, then  put the lumpy result away.

Today, I tried a new way and the results were much better!  A little counterintuitive, but successful.  Maybe not perfect, but certainly better than my usual method, and I think next week, things may go even better as I get the hang of it.   Here's a link to The Art of Doing Stuff's How to Fold a Fitted Sheet.

  1. An elevated and movable planter is a great idea. It looks terrific. I don’t draw because nothing ever looks proportionate. I suppose I could be an abstract drawer. Ha! Your sketchbook makes drawing look like fun. Love your mail always. Letting your mailman know how much you appreciate him/her is so kind and generous of your time. I wash the sheets then put them back on the bed. Eliminating the need for folding. Ha!

    1. :) I think you've got the perfect solution for sheets, Annie! As for drawing, I mess up proportion all the time (I don't think I actually "see" things correctly) and the same with perspective, but since I'm usually trying for a cartoon, it doesn't matter as long as the object is recognizable as a book or chair!

  2. Lovely post- those lettuces give me hope for my garden, even though it's months away! Love the idea of a moveable raised bed. Please do more watercolors. LOVE your sketching. You are GOOD. Keep it up. :)

    1. Sometimes my husband surprises me! I'm so pleased with the adding an extra space for vegetables. Thanks for the encouragement, Debra!

  3. Good to know you've had your second shot. And plenty of success in other areas, too!

    1. Yes, there is some increased confidence from having the shot. We aren't out of the woods yet, and we are still being careful, but having the vaccine is a relief.

  4. I'm envious of your garden plantings, it's 28 degrees here and snow should start within the next hour. Those postal cards are fun.

    1. Our winter has been almost non-existent, but we are going to get some freezing temps next week. From one extreme to the other. Keep warm and read good books!

    1. Thanks! That raised bed is going to be great for so many reasons. Our yard is so small, and it is always a fight for space. :)

  6. I watched how to fold a fitted sheet but I need to practice tomorrow with a fitted sheet. I'll let you know. Dave Glasgow can fold one--does that surprise you? Ricky sometimes can. I'm going to show Ricky your raised lettuce bed on wheels, that might work for us. It seems like we either have hot sun or no sun. Maybe we can chase the right sunlight around our property. Did you start that lettuce from seed? I had no side effects from my Pfizer vaccines. That's par for the course for me, so I'm counting on it being effective because I hugged someone today! Someone from my neighborhood but I hadn't seen her in several years. Touching elbows just wasn't going to cut it. She stopped her car and parked it so she could get out and hug us. Ricky and I were walking the dog. With that kind of reception, I'd have hugged her regardless. Ricky and she established long ago that they are both former USMC veterans, devil dogs, she says. She is currently dealing with breast cancer treatments so again, I'd have hugged her any time. Ricky had one lethargic day after his second Moderna vaccine, which he got at the V.A. I'm having trouble getting back in my groove after being in Virginia with my sisters.

    1. I need more practice with the fitted sheet method, but that was the flattest I've ever gotten a fitted sheet. Nothing Dave can do surprises me--he's always been a Renaissance Man. :)

I'm wondering if for the summer vegetables, Fee could fit some kind of shade structure over the top of the raised bed when the summer heat comes full force. Congrats on hugging and getting hugged with someone who genuinely needs that support!

  7. That elevated gardening bed and on wheels is genius! You are going to have lots of fun ahead in the garden. Totally cracking up over "they know where you live" love that. I haven't gotten any letter writing done so I'm sorry your letter is delayed (again!).

    1. :) I love it when that man gets busy! Don't worry, I'll still be here. I have lots of delays in my own responses!
