Here are 40 Things you would like to say at work. Some of my favorites are
- I don't know what your problem is but I bet its hard to pronounce.
- Ahhhh.. I see the screw-up fairy has visited us again.
- I'm already visualizing the duct tape over your mouth.
- It's a thankless job, but I've got a lot of Karma to burn off.
Holy cow Jen. That last item is astonishing. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHeh. My favorite is "if I throw a stick will you leave?" Also, it's probably not saying much about me that I actually HAVE said at least 7 or 8 of those lines at work - more than once. ::::Cringe::::
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite thing to say at work during a period of my most thankless job, ever, was "Let's all keep in mind that I'm the one who enters your grades in the computer."
It usually worked like the proverbial charm.
Oh, that octopus and ship coming out of the book are just fabulous! Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteAnnie & Rissa - Isn't that marvelous? I just love it!
ReplyDeleteACey - I've tactfully reminded students that their grades were in my hands. Another favorite: "I know that not everyone will like all of the poems, but I teach the ones I love. Please don't hurt my feelings." Translated - "You'll get on my bad side if you call a poem 'stupid.'" Surprisingly, it always worked.
Thanks for the heads up about the March PBS special, I'll be watching for it. And a thank you for linking to my post on your blog. Blessings.
