Progressing into 2022

I've continued sketching and filling sketch books, making postcards, decorating envelopes, writing letters, and reading, reading, reading.  I've been having some problems with the computer lately. Anything I typed kept goingggggggg annnnnd couldn't be backspaced or deleted.  I tried everything I could think of, spent so long making a comment or writing a post that the frustration resulted in abandoning whatever I was trying to do.

Finally, after days of frustration and at the point of self-immolation, I asked my husband for help.  He replaced the batteries in the keyboard.  Duh--I didn't even know the keyboard had batteries.

Postcards to Hannah and Annie (Scribbling Glue)

Letters

Since I've been spending so much time in my sketchbooks and making decorated envelopes and writing more letters, I've started looking for new ideas.

Love these owl envelopes!  Etsy:  miss pink robin

She has 3 different sets of linotype owl envelopes and a lot of other cool stuff in her shop.

HA!  I sent a postcard to Annie, just checking in, a couple of days ago because I had not heard from her in so long.  Yesterday, her letter postmarked Dec. 7 arrived!  Melody's Christmas card from Singapore was postmarked Dec. 10 and arrived before Annie's!

Today, I'll get right on Annie's letter. :)

  1. I adore your postcards etc. Such treasures for your family. My kids taught me years ago..computer issues- turn it off let it repair itself as it reboots and always check batteries in mouse and keyboard..And for me? make sure Walter is not lying on one or the other.

    1. The local computer expert failed to tell me about the keyboard, because he assumed I knew the connection between typing the letters on the keyboard and them appearing on the screen wasn't really magic. It never occurred to me to even wonder how the keyboard worked. :)

    1. Therese, for some reason blogger won't let me get to your blog right now, even though it has been on my blog list for so long. I love all mail art, postcards and letters. :) Would love an exchange!

    1. :) It was certainly good for me to know! Had no idea! Evidently the batteries last a long, long time as this is the first time the problem has occurred. :)

  4. Wow- my laptop is doing very weird things-maybe that's the answer. I always love your art! It's so happy. Love the pictures with words too....

    1. Thanks, Debra! Hope you find the answer to your laptop problems--it is so frustrating to have a computer problem that isn't solved by rebooting. I'm such a Luddite.

  5. I am glad your computer issues were resolved. I wouldn't have thought a keyboard had batteries either! Your postcards and envelope art are always so pretty. I hope you have a great week.

    1. Considering how long it took for the keyboard to need batteries, I'm not sure how many years it will be before I am able to use my increased smarts! :) Nice to see you again, Debra! Hope Texas is treating you well!

    1. Thanks, Shasta! Not art, but such fun. :) The keyboard issue (which I didn't even realize was a keyboard issue) was driving me crazy!

  9. Computer issues can be so frustrating! I'm lucky that my husband is a computer geek and can usually solve any issues mine might have. He must've gotten tired of watching how slow my laptop was functioning because he gave me a beautiful new one for Christmas this year. It is SO fast!! :) I'm glad your husband was able to resolve your problem, too. Obviously, your fix was much cheaper than mine. ;)

What is going on with the post office?! We've had such slow deliveries from Nebraska to Oregon. Grrrr.

    1. Certainly cheaper, but probably not nearly as fast as your new laptop!

As for the P.O., I've had no mail delivery on Sat. or Mon. (Jan. 8 & 10) even though notified by USPS that there was mail. Both days, however, my outgoing mail was picked up. Weird, but I assume that Covid has been a problem for the post office since so many teachers and bus drivers are out sick. The buses at Caddo Middle Magnet aren't running for that reason, but at least the schools are still open.

    1. I didn't! After days of trying to fix the problem and all the stress of trying to type, the husband saw the problem immediately. I'm going to keep him. :)

    1. Thanks! The apron is a work in progress, an unintended consequence of my poor handling of bleach! I love writing letters and postcards, and I love getting personal mail. I'd certainly encourage anyone to give it a try because it is a rewarding activity. :)
