Week in Review

I was afraid the Persian Shield would not root in water
as rooting in sand was recommended.
But one of the cuttings has developed roots!
Each of the chocolate drop coleus cuttings has rooted,
and rosemary, other coleus, and sweet potato vine.
But the Persian Shield has taken so long--
and still, only one has formed roots.
But this morning, that one is a celebrity at my house.

From Mrs. Duffy

From Melody
The postcard from Melody arrived the same day as her letter.

From Bryce Eleanor!

I love all my mail, but my note from Bryce Eleanor was my favorite this week!  She was at camp and someone else addressed the envelope, but this letter will remain next to my heart! Of course, Edgar is doing fine.  :)

 Outgoing

Letters to Anna and to Bryce Eleanor
had to go to the post office to be hand cancelled
because of inclusions.

And I forgot to take pictures of them!

I had my camera out, and still failed to take pics.
They went out in yesterday's mail.

More tea bag experiments.

Reading:

Books I've enjoyed recently:

Louise Penny's The Nature of the Beast, the latest in the Three Pines series which I love.

David Lagercrantz' The Girl in the Spiderweb.  I loved all of the Steig Larsson books, but I think Lagercrantz has done a fine job taking over the series.

Reviews are on my other blog.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your site is just nonstop fun. I'll admit I don't understand the tea bag stuff but you don't have to understand art to appreciate it. I tell myself, "Just relax and don't over-analyze everything. She finds joy. What more could anyone ask?"

    1. :) You hit it exactly--I'm not an artist, but I have fun playing. I can't explain why I get hung up on various activities, but I love experimenting. I entertain myself!

  2. I just drool over mail, even other people's mail. LoL. Great mail you receive and wonderful mail you send out. Love that lime envelope. It is sure to NOT get lost on the way. Who could miss seeing it from anywhere. What a treasured note from Bryce Eleanor! The tea bag art is wonderful and inspiring.

    1. Ha! That lime one should stand out in any crowd! Yes, I've helped B.E. write to her cousins and her friend Ellie, but this is the first time she's written me! I was over the moon :)

    1. Thanks, Carol! There are three places you can usually find me: the garden, upstairs in my studio, or reading in one of my designated reading spots. Where you won't find me (most of the time) is in the kitchen. Unless I'm making tea. Or popcorn.

  4. Love the tea bag art-the paper is so pretty-can't be duplicated with any other paper it seems-you are so creative!

    1. It has been fun experimenting with the tea bags. :) Ruby Silvious is a master of tea bag art and even has a book about her work with tea bags.

  6. What a cute letter from BE! Richard is so much better than I am about mailing off cards and notes to the grands, so ours do get a few things. But we haven't gotten any posted mail from them--the cheapskates hand deliver everything to save a few stamps!
Your tea bags keep getting more and more interesting. I say you are an artist. Some of your work moves me emotionally or nudges me to think differently, and isn't that the essence of art?
I'm reading Thomas Wolff's You Can't Go Home Again. I'm reading it surprisingly slowly and savoring the writing.

    1. I send stuff to the three grands almost weekly, and B.E.'s note from camp is the first I've received in turn! You are always so encouraging, Mary! Thanks for the kind words. :)

I have never read You Can't Go Home Again. It was on my list for years--back in the good old college days, and yet I've still not gotten around to reading it! I'm glad you are enjoying it, and maybe I'll work up the courage to give it a try!

  7. I love all your experiments with tea bags, your embroidery and the in-coming and out-going letters. How clever each item is. And your mention of books is sending me straight to the sofa to read with my dog trying his best to interrupt the process.

    1. I can piddle away time like nobody's business! :) I can't even clean my studio because when I start trying to put things away, I find too much I want to do!
