Last night Fee put on a lot of diverse music to play. All of a sudden, I found myself dancing around the house to Anne Murray's Animal Crackers in My Soup and Hey, Momma, There's a Hippo in the Bathtub. Then Paul Simon's Graceland, and Jesse Winchester, and Celtic Ladies, and Don Williams. Some of my favorite music, a combination of melody and lyrics that I love.

A few new letters have arrived that I need to scan and answer. After cleaning up my latest mess yesterday, I started another one with new envelope and postcard experiments. When the temperatures are still in the high 90's, it takes a bit of effort to anticipate fall, but I'm working on some fall possibilities.
I find it hard to sit still when dancing type music is playing. So go ahead and dance like.....you know, like no one is watching. The mail if wonderful. The last three are such fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that Anne Murray album that we played over and over when the kids were young. It was such fun to dance around with the kids, and even now I can't help but move when I hear it. :)
DeleteIt's not song lyrics from the 80s, but certainly other things remain in my head more readily than why I went into the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI blame it on the "doorway effect." Why Walking Through Doorways Makes You Forget
DeleteI just read a bit of E. O. Wilson yesterday. He said, "But I feel music has a very important role in ritual activity and that being able to join in musical activity, along with dancing could have been necessary at the very early stage of human culture." So, your Dancing around the house was definitely a good thing! :~) I always love your letters! What fun!
ReplyDelete:) It is amazing how music works its way to your feet, isn't it? Thanks, Chip!
DeleteI agree about remembering lyrics and not knowing why I entered a room!! Happened to me yesterday...Your art is always such a joy to look at!
ReplyDeleteIt is frustrating to walk into a room and forget your original purpose, isn't it? Happens to me frequently! Thanks for your sweet comment about the snail mail, Debra.
DeleteYour colorful creatures are so cute! And, that's a funny quote and so true :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yep, memory is a twisted thing, and the quote is an example I understand!
