October Mail Art and Tags

We never have as colorful a fall as parts of the country that get cooler weather, but this year has been a dismal failure.  After all the rain in March, we've had a dry year.  We've had no rain at all so far in October, and I can't remember when the last rain was in September.  The result--now that the leaves are beginning to fall, they are mostly brown and dry.  Disappointing.

Our temperatures are still in the mid to upper 80's, which is better than during the summer, but not exactly the chill we hope of autumn.  Today's forecast has a chance of rain, and I am keeping my fingers crossed.  :)

I was caught up my letter writing when I began this post, but a couple of letters have arrived since then!  I will post them later.

Last week,
I received this letter from Bryce Eleanor.
It was actually to Edgar Tiger Tail
from Prim Paws Chandler,
B.E.'s new kitten.

Addressed to Prim Paws,

Not a very good picture of this one.

More tags--
not sure why these are so much fun,
but I made another a 6 x 6 collage,
then cut into different size tags.
These are the littles.

Do you ever feel like this?
That is me trying to understand my husband's reasoning.

Time to go play upstairs.

  1. I often feel like that at the moment. I'm not sure the change of angle really helps, though..!

    1. No, raised eyebrows don't work either, but at least I know that he feels the same way at least half the time. :)

  2. Hahaha, that is me MOST of the time! Not because I'm trying to figure out someone else, but because I'm trying to untangle the web in my head.

Your postcard to Melody is absolutely gorgeous! I love birds, words and drawings....a perfect combination! That the two cats are writing to each other is just too fun. B.E. is going to remember this forever. She's having such a fun childhood.

    1. Oh, that "web in the head" always needs untangling! Melody's card is from a sheet of printed papers that I bought a couple of years ago when I fell in love with it. :) I'm having fun thinking of future conversations between Edgar Tiger Tail and Prim Paws, but I doubt I will get another reply.

  3. Love your mail art. I don't even try to figure out my husband's reasoning. Old men LOSE their reasoning, but they think YOU have lost YOURS. Even my dogs look at him that way.
    Happy Halloween

    1. Thanks, Carol! Yep, there is a certain disconnect in discussions between old men and old women, but at least I know I'm right in ours, and I'm sure you are right in yours! :)

  4. I think the owls want to go play upstairs too. Maybe at least one of them is already there!
I love tags too-and I have a basket of them. Someday I need to do a blog post about my odd collecting of things. It would make more sense if I actually USED the things I collect-but they seem to fill their purpose when I can just look at them!!!

    1. Right now, my neck is in unison with the odd owl as I contemplate a creative idea that just came to me. In a few minutes, I'm going upstairs to see if I can make it come together. Show us your basket of tags, Debra!

  5. Those grandkids are lucky to get your mail. My grandma sent postcards from her travels and it's nice to still have her handwriting after all these years. My cats over the years have corresponded with others but they don't get much mail back. I often send a cat a postcard when I'm traveling just so I can have the memorabilia for my travel scrapbook.

    1. You have a real treasure from your grandma--it has gotten harder to find postcards now. Email allows the sending of the personal photographs we take, but there is something about actually having the sender's own handwriting! What a good idea to send postcards to yourself to commemorate your travels, Cheryl!

  6. We are having a dismal Fall also. We live at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Many people come here to visit at this time of the year to see the leaf colors. This year everything is still green, except for the occasional dead/brown leaves that come down. Its very sad. I've heard that its due to the warmer than usual summer we had and not enough rain. I absolutely loved the owl picture and the caption -- well that suited our house to a T!

    1. Yep, the yearly color-fest depends so much on the weather. :) Aren't those owls the very picture of the odd-man out? Such puzzlement!

  7. Love all the mail art. I know your grandchildren are so excited to receive your clever correspondence.

    1. I don't know how excited they are, but I have such a good time doing it. I included a copy of The Spider and the Fly with the last letters--I loved that one as a kid and remember my mother reading it to me. :)
