Thanksgiving Week

In Louisiana, school is out for the entire week of Thanksgiving because of the annual Teacher's Convention.

People gathered at the camp for a week of relaxing and, for the guys, some hunting. The weather alternated, but we had several good days.   It was supposed to rain on Thanksgiving Day, but when it came, it was light rain, and the stormy weather held off for another day.

After we turn on the road to the camp, this is one of my favorite spots.  Last Monday, I noticed the moon hanging over the trees, right in the middle just above the treeline.  You can barely see it in the picture.  Most of the land is flat, but there are a couple of rolling little hills.  We climbed this one several summers ago, but the undergrowth and the fear of snakes, ticks, and poison ivy didn't make it all that pleasant.

Niece Katie and the newest addition, Hallie Greer Flanigan were the main interest.  Poor baby got swapped out a lot, but she was so good!

Erin, Max, and Mila were full of admiration!

Tuesday morning--still great weather.
Mila practices her moves.

Bryce Eleanor and Mila
working on their art journals.

And then, my camera battery gave out.
I did take a picture of the table
 on Thursday with my Kindle.

Plenty of good food
and everyone ate too much.

Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day!

  1. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a family holiday together. Except you need a golf course.

    1. Well, naturally! If no one minds playing in the rough, a golf course could easily be arranged. :)

  2. Sounds lovely. Babies do tend to get treated rather like pass-the-parcel, don't they - everyone wants a cuddle!

    1. Fortunately, Hallie Greer is a friendly soul, and everyone had chances for baby cuddles throughout the week!

  3. Great family pictures. I am struck by the fact that those kids were able to amuse themselves without digital devices. I love it that they are kids who are "kids".

glad you had a nice holiday ... and I saw that moon.
    xx, Carol

    1. Oh, there were occasions when digital devices were almost forced into their hands! But, thankfully, a lot the "device" time (notice the root word vice) was reading books on their little Kindles. :) Mila is especially engaged in the Warrior series by Erin Hunter featuring cats.

    1. I enjoyed seeing what they were working on. So quiet and intent, they were with paint and pencil and pen. Bryce Eleanor tore some pages out and made her own book with text and illustrations. I hope Max and Mila will share some of their pages with me by email, but I should be able to see B.E.'s additions soon. I'm glad she's writing as well as drawing. :)
