These postcards all relate the episode of Edgar vs Ugly Yellow Cat

I was working on one of my studio shirts when I found the first article by The Postal Museum and later found the Guardian article as I continued looking for more of Rosalind Wyatt's work. Looking for mail art inspiration and found stitching inspiration.
What have you been up to lately?
At the moment, the light is so shocking I can't see to do anything! Madly envious of anyone doing anything at all!
ReplyDeleteShorter days, fewer hours of natural light, and overcast skies...makes stitching more difficult! I have a couple of good lamps, though.
DeleteI've been watching youtube videos about making junk journals. I have tried so hard to stay focused on making quilts, but a junk journal is in my future. I've already started making some tags. I really like the idea of embroidering a letter! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA book blogging friend makes handmade books and has just finished a junk journal. :) Here is a link I posted to her that I really liked: junk journal-- you might enjoy it, too. Tags are great fun! I love making them and have cut some new ones out of black cardstock to experiment with.
DeleteHi Jen! Love your story postcards to the kids! What fun for you and for them. Especially along with your cutout cartoon drawings. The stitch writing is fabulous! I’d never find the patience for that though. But I do love looking at it. I had a peek at that junk journal link you left for Shasta...I love seeing junk journals but I’m so freaking practical sometimes that I always think...”what for?” But I can see now it gets bits and bobs out of drawers and boxes and other hidden places and gives them an artsy home. I think I must try it. Yikes, ANOTHER project! LOL
ReplyDeleteI've done short versions of stitch writing before, but never anything lengthy! I'm adding short quotes to one of my studio shirts now. :) As many tiny stitches as I've taken on these shirts, I don't know why I never thought of writing phrases before.
DeleteI guess a junk journal would be a good way to use up scraps of paper and experiment with ideas and techniques. I do that with mail art. :)
Sometimes I don't leave comments because once in a great while I don't know what to say, yet I do marvel so. Now is one of those times. So, wow. There are so many uniquely creative people in this world. Wow. I thought of something to say after all! :)
ReplyDelete:) I often spend a lot of time thinking of something to say when commenting. Or writing letters. Or in conversation. I say too little or too much. :O
DeleteWow....I'm so inspired by this-and I want to know about the possum-did he just go off and never come back? And how's the yellow cat?
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
We had a possum a couple of years ago, if this is the same one, He/She has certainly filled out! If he is a regular visitor, he may wait until all the lights go out. Mean Yellow has not appeared lately. Thank goodness!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Debra. :)
