I'm barely keeping up. Just barely. If I'd had all the postcards and envelopes made before hand, it wouldn't have been as difficult.
Outgoing
Sending a pc a week to each of the 3 grands
takes care a third of challenge. :)
So 3 more to the grands--Mila, Max, and Bryce Eleanor
So 3 more to the grands--Mila, Max, and Bryce Eleanor
The answers are on the back,
but I'm sure Max already knows these riddles.
I made these last year when I was busy making a bunch of fabric postcards.
I put them in a box with a bunch of scraps
I intended to use to make some more...but went on
to another project and forgot.
Great timing, I needed something to put in the mail,
but didn't have anything ready to go.
So I addressed them and took them to the P.O.
to have them hand-canceled.
Two went overseas, so they will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
The expression on the cat's face says it all!
I love all these postcards, but especially mine. It has not moved from my desk, I'm enjoying it so much. How lucky for me you found those. I don't know how you manage this challenge. I don't think I could do it unless I spent the whole year preparing for it. And I don't think I could do that either. LoL. The postcards to the children are such fun. And those watercolor flowers are so pretty on that first postcard.
ReplyDelete:) Thanks, Annie!
DeleteI'm never doing this challenge again; love the idea, but in practice, it gets to be too much. Last year, I said that I'd rather see a challenge that called for one item a week--just to get people in the mood for more letter writing. It is sad to think of the practice of snail mail being lost, but 30/30 is a huge challenge even for those who sent a lot of mail on a regular basis.
Forgive me. This will sound really dumb but am I to understand that you can mail almost anything if you have the item hand-cancelled?
ReplyDeleteAnd, do you use a special glue to keep some of the designs attached 'til they reach their destination?
I've read of people sending all kinds of things, but all I've ever done is send the fabric postcards. I don't use any glue on these--everything is sewn on. This article has pics of some strange items sent through the mail! I've seen where some people have received flipflops, potatoes, plastic bottles, etc., but I'm not sure my P.O. people would be receptive to unusual items and have not tried. Yet. :)
DeleteI remember sending a message in a plastic bottle from one of the privateer ports in Normandy...
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could spend a happy month making postcards in advance?
I did have some postcards and envelopes made in advance, which helped, but think I'd do better to set a smaller goal. :)
DeleteLOL! I like them all. Laughing for real at that cat. I'm guilty of doing the same with projects. And you won't believe the special colors I picked up yesterday. Hope to explain in a letter later. I'm so disconnected right now, thinking does not come easily.
ReplyDeleteThought I knew the answers to the questions, am disappointed that I don't. *sigh*
The answers are so lame: caped crusaders don't change light bulbs, they like the dark and Batman's favorite drink is Fruit Punch. Duh! I looked at several site for Batman jokes and they were all the same. I had to choose the short ones. :)
DeleteDang. This crone brain business is strictly for old age. Lovely cards! Sewing and just plain stitching is soothing. Haven't pricked a finger yet. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Limner, the cards were like making tiny quilts. I prick my fingers with hand sewing, but so far never on the sewing machine!
DeleteI love all of these, but especially the fabric cards. What a fun way to 'use up' those small scraps of treasured cloth.
ReplyDelete:) It is a fun way to use the tiny bits saved from various projects!
