Since it rained all day Saturday, the art journal was a life saver.
I had a long list of ideas, but all she wanted to do was draw and add thought bubbles to some pictures. Fine by me. She worked in hers, and I worked in mine.
She did a portrait of me.
Those are Minnie Mouse ears I'm wearing.
She propped some of her stuffed animals on the table and drew them.
Peanut Butter the pony and Oreo the penguin.
Two of her best friends.
Mila and Bryce Eleanor.
Christmas at the camp.
I was surprised that she showed no interest
in the watercolors,
but she had enough to keep her engaged.
Maybe next time we will make pockets for the book
(yes, this is something I wanted to do,
but she ignored my suggestions)

and try some experimenting
with paints and collage.
Or not.

Took a long nap after she left yesterday. :)
Amazing how we have such fun ideas for the kids and they usually only want to do it their way *smile*! Looks like you had bunches of fun.
ReplyDeleteYep! And funny that things that we think are irrelevant end up being the most entertaining for kids!
DeleteWhat a FUN FUN post. I love her art.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get two more kits ready for Thanksgiving when Max and Mila come! It will be interesting seeing how Mila, as the oldest, approaches an art journal. :)
DeleteShe clearly had a great time!
ReplyDeleteI think she did!
DeleteThis is a very cool post. I love that she put thought clouds above pictures and they were all happy thoughts. You certainly will broaden her interest in art as the weeks go by.

She spent a lot of time choosing pictures. Every single one (and her mother sent a bunch) needed lengthy discussion about who was in it, what was going on, etc. :)
DeleteThis is a great project! My GD is doing it too, when she's here. And sometimes, she just wants to draw princesses and fairies in her journal.
ReplyDeleteLove your ears by the way. :-))
It is a fun project! I am eager to see if she continues working in her journal at home. Just keeping all the drawings in one place is a benefit. :)
DeleteThis is a wonderful idea-and you are to be commended for the time and thought you put into it! Her art work is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAt first, I was just going to get a sketchbook so she could keep all her drawings together, but then I found so many great ideas online that looked like fun. She pretty much stuck to the first idea of drawing, but she did like choosing the photos and creating the thought bubbles!
