The little antique looking witch is finished. She finally got some clothes, but never got her hat. She still has some reading and studying to do before she earns her hat, but she is hard at work on her homework. I'm not sure if she has learned her spell-casting sufficiently, but she is certainly making an effort.
I made one more "whatever" and would happily make a dozen more,
because I love using the scraps and embellishments in my Halloween stash,
and I can watch Drama Fever or my Amazon shows while working on them.
But it seems hardly worth the effort since Halloween is this weekend.
This shelf is above the television cabinet.
Mostly last year or older Eccentrics.
I did leave this Catrina undressed,
but she doesn't mind as long as
her black cat is close by.
I'm going to hate putting all these Eccentric characters away.
She does look a very studious little witch!
ReplyDeleteI think she may have spent too much time on her broom before she realized her situation. :)
DeleteI love all your Halloween decorations, especially the wonderful Hat-less One. Maybe she'll have a hat on when you wake up November 1st. :) And thanks to you I've learned about two new things -- DramaTV which I'd never heard of and The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. Happy sewing Jenclair!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peggy! KDrama or Korean Drama is something my husband and I both enjoy. I'm eager for the next episode of The Man in the High Castle--an interesting alternate history!
DeleteYou do more decorating for Halloween that I do for Christmas! It's the putting away that I do not like. The grandgirls love dragging out all the decorations and setting them up, so I'm left with just hiding the containers.
ReplyDeleteYour little witch is much like several of my students. The problem, you see, is that you did not "scaffold" the lesson properly. I expect you to provide more scaffolding and to retest for Credit Recovery in time for her to use the spells that she does master on Halloween evening. And while you're writing some scaffolding plans, a good hands-on project for the Catrina doll would be pattern drafting. Later that scaffolding will help her as she creates clothing items. She and the cat could be face partners during the project with the witch working in a spell activity center. It appears that the Eccentrics are setting up activity centers.
Happy Halloween!
This cracked me up, Mary! What, you think I'm the head witch responsible for her education? I'm retired and just relating circumstances. You are, however, quite correct that the lesson was not scaffolded properly, and poor Sophie will have to retest! And good idea for Catrina--she was quite vocal when I was designing clothes for the previous Catrinas!
DeleteHi Jen
ReplyDeleteGads, I love all your decorating. I especially like the pic labeled "Mostly last year or older Eccentrics" and your mantle. For some reason the first pic I mentioned brings to mind the TV show Horror Story. Your pieces have the same feel as the characters in the last season. I never watch the show, I just saw the ads for it. It's hard for me to away Halloween decor. I do have a couple of pieces that I leave out all year and just move them around. I like to look at them!!
xx, Carol
Noooooo! I don't really want horror! But I do have a great time creating these characters--last year's Drunken Goblin and Drop Dead Fred the clown were my favorites. Like you, it is hard to put Halloween away, and mostly I just move it back into my upstairs studio. :)
DeleteYour little witch looks a bit perplexed -- I suspect she's saying "now wherever did I put my hat" - not realizing that she doesn't have one. So much fun to see all your Halloween decor. I have one spot with my two Lickety Split witches and an "EEK" sign. That about does it for me. Perhaps you could leave them all up until Thanksgiving?
ReplyDeleteShe is a little confused at times. She really thought she was the exception to the rule and is finding the extra study time unfair. :) I'll probably leave them for a while--I'm always slow about clean up and put away chores!
