Am I the only one who can not get the verification letters typed in correctly on the first try? They get harder and harder to read and have longer and longer sequences, but even when I think they are easy, I can't type them correctly the first time!
My favorite television show is in danger! Freakonomics has a post saying that low ratings have put Studio 60 in danger of cancellation. How typical that an intelligent and genuinely witty show has failed to attract an audience. Do any of you watch it? I love the characters and the premise of making a weekly show based on Saturday Night Live. NBC has ordered enough episodes to finish this season which is a relief--maybe that will give it time to find an audience.
You are definitely NOT the only one who often can't get those dang verification thingies typed in correctly the first time. That's one reason I'll often double up on comments if I go to someone's blog and they've posted more than one new thing since my last visit.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I gave up on Studio 60 after the first 3 or 4 episodes. I WANTED to like it and I did really like the characters, but I found the stories themselves uninspired and a little dull. :-/
I like Studio 60...I TiVo it. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd you are not the only one who has trouble with the word verification stuff. :-D
I am SO glad you mentioned the verification thing! I thought I was loosing my mind that I couldn't type a simple series of letters when I was looking right AT IT. And they're definitely getting longer. I think my brain tries to make the letters into a word and that trips me up. They also tend to be a series of one-handed letters usually too.
ReplyDeleteLMAO....I missed THIS first one! I guess that was an 'a' and not a 'q'.
I watch it...Maybe it's just too good for tv these days...grumble, grumble...and I, too, have a heck of a time with thise verification letters...grrrrr!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one who has trouble with those darn letters!
ReplyDeleteI'd gotten to the point that I was going to change my settings and eliminate it when I read on someone's blog that she had done so and the spammers hit again.
The verifications are hard, especially when they scrunch the letters close together and have similar looking letters like i and l and 0 and o. It seems like no matter what I decide it is, it is the other one. There is another site though where they put extra lines as clutter so it is even harder to decipher.
ReplyDeleteI do like the show but don't generally watch it. I'm trying to watch less tv generally, and trying to go to bed earlier. Plus I think there may be a competing show on a different station my daughter likes to watch.
Sometimes they will have a "c" and an "l" scrunched so close, I think it is a "d" --
ReplyDeleteI record Studio 60. I have about a month's worth to watch because, well, my life got a little busy 4 weeks ago. I do love the show. I think the cast is incredible. It may be too intelligent for TV.
ReplyDeleteI can never get those letters right.
I turned off the word verification and don't have any more spammers than usual. To me, they are a bother.
ReplyDeleteI like Studio 60 too but it is not the kind of show you can casually drop in and watch and know what is going on. At times it is a little hard to follow and the storyline is developing a tad slow. Plus, if you are not up on your current events some of the innuendos are lost on you (well, maybe not you but certainly me!)
Word Verifications are THE WORST!
ReplyDeleteI really do think it's our brain that foils our finger's mission, just how many times have you tried to type any word that starts with Q and it ends up coming out QUILT instead of "quiet, quick, quack, etc"!!!
Jules - :) Real life interrupted your television schedule? I can see where that might have happened!
ReplyDeleteDebra - I may try turning off the verification and wait and see if the scammers arrive...so annoying.
You're right about it being an almost serialized show, but I do love it.
QuiltingFitzy - What a great way of expressing it: "...our brain that foils our finger's mission" - :)
Ditto about not being able to get the letters. I used to be an expert typist, but the supersensitive keyboard foils me. At least I have stopped the automatic way I tried to create a work out of those letter--I guess after a while the brain learns they are truly meaningless.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I don't have them, and have never had a spammer.

ReplyDeleteAs you see, I stuttered, and have a repeated post. Now I can't sign in-- I hang my head in shame. Sorry
ReplyDeleteKay - I love laughing aloud this early in the morning! Another blogger humiliated by the system!
ReplyDeleteI've removed the letters and will see how it works. At least it will save me time and frustration on my own blog!
