Monday, Monday

So...schools in Baton Rouge will not reopen for at least another week.  What to do with all of those children whose parents must either go to work or try to reclaim their homes from flood damage?  I can't imagine what that must be like--summer break is over, there are no camps, and child care must be next to impossible.

Lucky for us, we are able to have Max and Mila for a week!  We met their dad in Natchitoches yesterday to pick them up.  This is going to be a long week for board game losses.  I lost two games of Clue last night.  One to ten-year-old Max and one to thirteen-year-old Mila.  That was deliberate, of course.  I let them win.  Not.  It is embarrassing, but I am accustomed to being a good loser.  :\  Sort of.

Incoming Mail:

from Annie in Maryland
love the back with all the stamps!

from Penne in Santa Fe
I'm envious--she is preparing for a
trip to San Miguel de Allende for a workshop in clay!

A surprise missive from Hannah a friend on Goodreads!

 I have letters to answer!
(And skills to develop for playing Clue!

  1. I loved it when the kids enjoyed board games. We played Aggravation A LOT. It was a board that Terry made by drilling holes in a square cut from the countertop where the sink goes. We painted the holes, got a bag of marbles and Vwallah!! We still have the board. We play Michigan Rum a lot too. Glad you get to have your Grands for a week. Gosh don't you just love it when grands visit?

    1. Clever Terry! I love Michigan Rummy--we may have a game going tonight. :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe I'll win a game. It is a pleasure when M & M get to visit although I am sorry for the reason, it worked out great for us. :)

  2. I'm terrible at board games, although I love them. Pretty good at scrabble because I do crossword puzzles all the time. The last time I played "Life" with the kids I actually won. I was so excited that you'd have thought I won the lottery!

    1. Our Scrabble game is missing letters! I should go ahead and invest in a new one. Half the fun of the board games is watching the kids get so excited!

    1. Hmmm. Is the letter smaller, larger, heavier? I didn't realize that smaller sizes need more postage until recently. I'm getting my mail each day...so I'm not sure what the problem is. :O

  4. I'm glad my letter arrived, but am surprised by the sticker on the bottom. I didn't attach it, so it must have peeled off another letter it rubbed against along the way!

    1. Ah, well, if anything had happened, the P.O. would have definitely had the return address!

  5. Beautiful mail, as always! Enjoy the grands for the week. I see Mila has an electronic device but isn't terribly engaged in it. I guess brothers require some attention. You just never know that will come. :-)

    1. Oh, yes, brothers do require some attention, but those electronic devices can keep both of them occupied!

  6. Fun kid pictures, Jen! I'll be the they aren't terribly unhappy to have school delayed another week. Fun mail too. I love all the mysteries that your comments have brought up. Love behind the scenes knowledge.

    1. When the time comes to make up for the lost days, at least two weeks worth, there will be a mighty howl coming from Baton Rouge. For every action, there is a reaction! For now, it is a lot of boredom--thank heavens for technology. :)

Good to hear from you!
