Mail Art and A Month of Letters

I've made it through the second week of A Month of Letters, but this morning, I realized I didn't have anything for today's mail.  Yesterday, I spent the day with a friend--drinking wine and reminiscing...only realized this morning that there was nothing to put in the mail!
Quick trip upstairs to find one of the postcards I'd made, write the address and a note, add postage, and then put it in the mailbox!

This was a great week for incoming mail:

From Penny Baugh of Art Journey!  This sweet charmer says, "choose magic," but it looks like magic chose me--receiving this little character was such a joy.  She is now hanging on the wall on my studio, overlooking my desk!  Instant inspiration.

From Rift when I joined the postcard exchange on Goodreads.

From Donovan Beeson.  I'm now a card-carrying member of the Letter Writers Alliance.

And, OOOOh, yesterday from Annie this beautiful quilted postcard!  Fabulous, right? Right!  She really IS the high priestess of borders...and more.

I ordered some stickers from Neandercol's Etsy shop and love the envelope she used to enclose them.
The stickers are wonderful, too--made from old postage stamps.

And there was plenty of outgoing mail, too.  Something went in the mailbox every day, including today's hurried effort to be sure I met the challenge.  Two more weeks to go!

Bryce Eleanor will be arriving shortly, but maybe I'll have a chance to show the outgoing mail tomorrow.  No, I'll share one-- I used my favorite photo of the kid from 5 years ago to answer a Mail Art Call on Barbies.  Still cracks me up!

  1. You're doing great! What a sweet dollie! Your mailbox is having a mail party for sure. Barbie overload is so funny! Love it. I'm so happy your postcard arrived. Now off to check out a couple of those links....

    1. :) It startled me that I didn't have anything ready to go as I usually have it ready the night before, but I'm still in the game when I could have fouled out!

  3. It always good to have a little stash for those "oh no" days. Your postcard is adorable but I love the Barbie Binge one. I don't have girls so there aren't many Barbie days in past...surely not enough for an overload! Plastic Army men, check! Dinosaurs, check! Oh, Matchbox cars, check, check! Guess I can still relate.

    1. One of those Barbies was mine--she is the Grand Dame, although definitely worse for wear. The others belonged to my daughters who treated them all like they were GI Joe. Poor Barbies. What I thought about when I saw B.E. with Barbies coming out of her chest was Sigourney Weaver's battle with the aliens.

  4. Hey - I received your postcard which is absolutely lovely!
Well done for keeping up with all of this :D So, should I now send a return postcard (apologies for being a numpty) - if that's a yes, then great! (and please email me your add.) Or should I just post something with a pic of your postcard and a link?
    Lynn :D

    1. So glad it made its way across the Atlantic! No, please don't feel any kind of obligation. The only obligation is on my part-- to send something in the mail each day and to reply to anything I receive. But I wanted to do this and have really enjoyed it. Other people have more commitments, and I don't want them to feel like victims! I have a couple of friends who email when they receive a card with a thank you and a catch-up chat, but will never do a mailbox reply. :)

  5. DEAR Jenclair
Thank you!! I received your post card this week..I love it so much. As it sits on my dining room table propped so I can see it, I keep turning it because I'm not sure which side I like the most. Hopefully life will slow down so I can create one in return and get it posted.
    xx, Carol

  6. Yay! I'm so happy that most of the cards are finding their way! It has been fun trying to match the card to the person, and I had fun with yours :P Don't feel required to do a return--if you do, I'll write again. Sufficient threat?
