regular envelope but with lots of paint splashed on;
"geronimo!" because Mila loves Dr. Who
below--under paper was a pretty design on brown wrapping paper
that I wiped my brushes on and experimented with stamps--
then sewed into an envelope
to Rift
to Gina
various scraps of paper
a paper towel
I used to wipe brushes on, then drew flower--
great texture,
but hard to stick the stamp on :)
under paper again,
then painted over
fabric I purchased last year in N.O.;
used fabric stiffener on it before sewing envelope
My new obsession is addictive. Love making the envelopes and postcards and find it a great way to play and experiment.

I really love getting mail. My mailbox visits are a lot more fun. :)

It really has been fun, Carol. It is interesting to see the difference in the way people approach snail mail!
DeleteThese envelopes are gorgeous! How fun to get mail!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shasta! Both the sending and the receiving have proved very satisfying!
DeleteOooo! Some playtime fun after my own heart and mailbox awesomeness. Nothing is better! I love all the different styles. Snail mail LOVE!
ReplyDelete:) Yep! I'm loving the entire process, Annie!
DeleteOooh, Guess what I just received in today's mail!
DeleteA paper towel? I'm surprised it would hold up! Well, a little anyway, but I agree about the texture. When I was 'into' cake decorating (before quilting I tried lots of different crafts) I'd use paper towels to dry and shape icing. Some of the resulting textures were awesome, but some were odd or just plain ugly. I found myself spending way too much time choosing paper towels! My recent foray into painting has me using tissue to create texture on canvas. I may have to play with paper towels again.
ReplyDeleteAll of the envelopes are fun and interesting. I imagine getting them in the mailbox must be a thrill.
When saturated with paint, this brand held up well. I decided to give it a try. Sometimes what you least expect turns out to work. I didn't know you were painting, Mary! Giving quilting a break?
DeleteYou really are having fun with this, aren't you!
ReplyDelete:) Of course!
DeleteSuch great art!
ReplyDeleteFinding cool stuff in the mailbox is a great experience! :)
