I don't put the same effort into my mail art that you do, but lately, I have been leaving things half finished. You know, intending to get back to it and then...forgetting about it. I have the time, but lately have been lacking in commitment! :)jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-32610995999320936642017-08-15T10:10:06.894-05:002017-08-15T10:10:06.894-05:00As usual, terrific and inspiring incoming and outg...As usual, terrific and inspiring incoming and outgoing mail! Every time I see all your mail I feel like I want to make some too. But I just don't get at it. Or I might be lucky if I get one piece done and then get distracted to do something else. Time please! I want MORE time! Love those beautiful threads!Anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10540499473620802526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-90053356952551387662017-08-15T06:13:29.870-05:002017-08-15T06:13:29.870-05:00It is easy to understand that a teenager in today&...It is easy to understand that a teenager in today's world wants something different and fails to understand the importance of the loss of traditional crafts and skills. One of the problems is that the skills are not valued enough to earn both respect and financial security--so many hours for so little reward. You are lucky to have been able to see the entire process from carding through weaving, and I look forward to your post. jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-38526090566427775122017-08-14T20:25:40.794-05:002017-08-14T20:25:40.794-05:00Jenny, I saw the most fascinating demonstration in...Jenny, I saw the most fascinating demonstration in Guatemala of traditional weaving starting with manually removing seeds from the cotton, carding it or spreading cotton flat, then making thread with a handheld spindle, to dying the thread with plant-based colors, then separating the different colored threads and finally weaving the intricate pictures on the Mayan looms that fasten to a wall and a strap that goes around the woman's back. I took lots of photos after we determined pictures were okay. I want to write a blog post about it because at least one teen-age Kaqchikel girl I met wants no part of the traditional weaving that her grandmother and mother do to help support the family. It will die out in another generation or so. The poverty of the Mayan and the prejudice against them is part of the story. So much to process from our trip. But I thought of you when the young woman passed around the thread she had dyed from the plant (I'll have to look to see what it was.)Teresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06666609213171939599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-19485808234568577422017-07-18T13:14:58.500-05:002017-07-18T13:14:58.500-05:00Lovely family photos! I keep thinking I should start my own stamp collection--the first stamps I'd buy would be those issued by Guernsey because they issue such wonderful themes. here and herejenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-15004998181604873362017-07-18T08:15:15.727-05:002017-07-18T08:15:15.727-05:00I keep moving the start time earlier each day. :)...I keep moving the start time earlier each day. :) I'll be starting at 5 AM soon!jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-34910350863782641722017-07-17T09:31:47.151-05:002017-07-17T09:31:47.151-05:00The humidity and heat has been terrible here. Terry's COPD does not allow it.

I just realized with this post that I like looking at the stamps on your mail as much as I enjoy seeing the art on the cards. This might be the first time I have seen a Kennedy stamp.
xx, CarolCarol- Beads and Birdshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11062821517519300477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13828728.post-52881227730105457582017-07-16T04:17:04.996-05:002017-07-16T04:17:04.996-05:00It's hard to be active in hot and humid weathe...It's hard to be active in hot and humid weather, I agree.
