Miscellaneous Tuesday

I love this tutorial by Amy over at the b-line! Makes walking your dog even better when you have a pouch for those necessary clean-ups. There is a section called "let's make" that takes you to a variety of fun crafty tutorials. Amy also has an Etsy Shop with pretty things like this bracelet:We've been having lovely, cool mornings here; so unusual for August, but so appreciated. This morning after a short practice, I joined Fee outside for coffee; we watched the world move from dark to light.

Bryce Eleanor and Duckie.

A glance back to Austin--- Look at all the smiles, even after a full day of yoga classes.,
One day we had to move outside because the electricity was off...not a pleasant experience when every day is 100+ degrees.

Embroidery, My Tranquilizer

I've returned to this piece, enlarging the circle. The process is relaxing, and I just improvise as I go.

While in Austin, I had everyone in our class sign a sheet of paper and draw a stick figure of one of their poses. I've had to enlarge some of the signatures to be able to embroider them, and now I'm just working through the list. I'm not sure exactly what will be next after finishing the names and stick figures, but hopefully, it will turn out well and be a sort of souvenir of our class for Sadani, our teacher.

Camille - prasarita padottanasana; Elisha - vimanasana; Isabelle - jathara paravritti. Each person wrote the name of the asana next to their stick figure, but I'm not sure I'll try embroidering all the sanskrit names....

Bryce Eleanor loves her yoga mat; I'm hoping for some little yogis and yoginis among my grandchildren. Have encouraged Erin to look for a children's teacher in Baton Rouge, but Mila will have to decide where her interests lie (I'm keeping my fingers crossed).

Relax and Breathe

My gosh, I haven't even been home two weeks and things have really been hopping. My father fell out of his bed at the nursing home and broke his nose. After 5 hours at the emergency room last Friday, they released him back to the home, and he seemed to be doing well. Then, an infection in a skin tear caused more concern, but by Tuesday things seemed to be settling in to routine.

Last week, my husband's cardiologist said he needed a heart catherization. Yesterday, we spent all day on that one, but although he has blockage in 3 arteries, it is not to the point of a stent, and he was able to come. He will be on blood pressure and cholesterol medication -- along with a severely curtailed diet. The diet is going to be the hard part! Some of his favorite foods are now verboten.

He will have to be a couch potato through Sunday...WHICH WILL NOT BE EASY ON ANYONE. He is normally on the go all the time; being told that he can go from the chair to the bed is a challenge.

The doctor, however, was very serious in his instructions, and Fee is trying to behave. Then this morning he woke up with some kind of reaction to a) the dye from yesterday's procedure, or b) the cholesterol medication. Now, he has to hold off on the new medications until the reaction abates. Whew! Poor man, he has a lot to absorb in the last week.

There have been a number of minor emergencies as well and my computer has been behaving oddly. Also, had to delete entirely the new FireFox and return to an older version. I'm not sure what was going on, but on top of an already recalcitrant computer, problems with FireFox were not worth the effort. The older version now is installed and working fine.

I have 4 or 5 books to review, but have had no time or inclination lately to get that done.

All the calm garnered in Austin has been put to good use, but I have to find a way to replenish! OOOOMMMMM!

August - Half Over!

Home for nearly a week, and things have been hectic! Appointments, meetings, catching up on all of those things neglected for a month, visiting with family and friends, hundreds of emails to sort through, and so many blogs to visit, etc. The computer, unfortunately, doesn't always want to cooperate and keeps freezing up.

Fee's visit to the cardiologist this week was a wakeup call. He will be having a heart catherization next Wednesday, and possibly, a stent. This is frustrating for him as he has continued to consider himself invulnerable to the frailties of the body!

Five hours at the emergency room yesterday, as Laddie fell out of bed at the nursing home and broke his nose. He came through with flying colors, however, and as a result, perhaps of the A. D., didn't seem to feel the pain. He was alert the entire time and appeared to find the emergency room a fascinating experience. Checked on him this morning and he was still alert and seemed free of pain. Small blessings.

Have to child proof the house as my youngest granddaughter will be coming over shortly to spend the night. That should keep me busy!

Some pictures from the July 4th weekend down at the camp:Amelia always dresses Bob up for holiday occasions, but Bryce Eleanor gradually took all of his possessions. At this point, she has confiscated his crown and sunglasses, and eventually, she had his jewelry, too. For a bobcat, he is such a wimp!

Last Day!

This is the last day! My computer has been slow and has frozen frequently, but I haven't had much time for blogging anyway. Day classes until 5:30 each day, and as many night classes as I could work in, between assignments and preparation.

I've taken 4 or 5 Kundalini classes at night, Hatha and Hatha Flow classes on the weekends, and one wonderful Yoga Nidra class (deep relaxation--and believe it, deep relaxation, indeed!) You are not supposed to fall asleep, but I heard snores and lots of breathing that indicated having slipped over the edge of consciousness into sleep. I slipped over a couple of times and had to bring myself back from that hypnogogic sleep into paying attention.

Graduation after lunch, then a party at 4:00 (and another one tonight that I doubt I'll be able to attend as Fee should be here this afternoon). I'm not sure how I'll adjust to being home without so much yoga packed into my daily schedule! I do have several ideas on projects that I hope to get started on, though.

Ooops! Time to get back.
