This and That

The first week in January, we had two days with lows of 18 and 19 degrees and highs in the 30's.  Within the next two days, the temperatures climbed to highs in the upper 70's.  It doesn't look as if we will have a real winter this year.  Spring intermixed with a couple of cold days now and then.  I'm almost as confused as the plants.

A few more letters and postcards went out this week.  I've also been making more envelopes.  Making postcards and envelopes is about all the creativity that has gone on around here, but it is a pastime that keeps me curious and involved.

The three postcards to the grands were all done in November, but the envelopes are new.  Naomi sent out a letter template that I've been using this week.  The two letters made from paper bags are using Naomi's template (and one of them is to Naomi!).  I plan to make some more using the template and maybe some more collage postcards.

  1. The orange one with the character is absolutely too fun! I love that you are using Naomi's envelope idea to send her a letter. You don't really need any more creativity...you've got lots going on right there.

Here's hoping we get a bit of winter so the mosquitoes will not be so insufferable this summer. Of course, that means there will be the misery of the cold weather, but somehow, it's easier to handle...especially since it lasts only a day or two.

    1. Thanks, Mary! I'm enjoying playing again. :)

I'm worried about the mosquito situation, as well. Two cold days are not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of those pests. And, of course, there are other insect problems that may arise without enough cold weather.

  2. Look at the great mail art you're sending out! I love it all but I do find myself pretty partial to that top left postcard. And those made envelopes are quite inspiring. I really should make more of my own envelopes. Especially since I do have an envelope punch board that makes it really easy.

    1. I usually just sew up the sides of computer paper, but I really like using Naomi's template. I wish I could do wonderful postcard backs like yours, Annie!

  3. It hasn't been anything like cold enough on this side of the Pond, either. You and your plants aren't the only ones confused!

    1. Feels a bit strange to wish for cold weather--moderately cold anyway--but I am. It makes me uneasy to think about early our hot, humid summer will arrive!

  4. I look at every single one of your postcards and am in awe of every one of them. I don't work with paper and art supplies and I truly admire artists that create such marvelous pieces.

  5. I'm sort of late responding to this post. We were 'snowed' in for several days this past week. I like it -- it means I HAVE to stay inside and get some work done *smile*. We did get down to 8 and 11 degrees a couple of times. That's too cold!!

    1. I'd love to be snowed in for a few days--just to look out and admire the snowy landscape! As long as I could stay inside, warm and comfortable, that is. But those temperatures! Can you imagine a century or two ago, depending on a fireplace to keep you warm?
