Quiet Please...

Don't you hate those days when the lists in your head start yelling at you?

 I NEED TO:

-clean out the refrigerator
-go to the grocery store
-make a list for the grocery store
-return books to the library
-find the list of books I want to check out
-clean the car
-clean the studio
-do the laundry
-groom the cats
-write a a bunch of book reviews
-make calls to...
-weed the flower beds
-balance the checkbook

I can't even set priorities because all of the things I NEED to are so frantically vying for attention.  I want all of them done, but I don't want to do them.

What I want to do is go up to the studio and play or sit in my chair and read or write letters.  Even my "WANT to do's" are difficult to prioritize.  :)

Will try to channel The Little Engine that Could and just get busy.  One thing at a time.  I think I can, I think I can...

  1. Hahaha.... I hear ya! But I'm old so I just work on the "Want To Do" list first. I don't want to be caught dead doing the others!

    1. Doing the Want To Do list first is what gets me into this mess! I'm really good at doing what I want to do. :)

  2. I love Ann's attitude...enjoy life and don't be caught dead doing the things you don't like. I don't want to do the things screaming in my head, either. Sometimes I don't even want to go in the studio: I just want to sit and do nothing, maybe contemplate the options of what I would do if I could get out of the chair. Test stress is getting the better of me. Ah, sweet summer where art thou?

    1. I don't envy you with test stress, Mary. This is the time of year I used to spend whining and avoiding stacks of research papers. Ugh! Summer will arrive! Of course, by then excitement will be mixed with total exhaustion.

    1. :) I made it through some of the least pleasant of the list, patted myself on the back, and reached for Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Book Store. Forgot my list of library books, but found several good ones without it.

  4. I HATE this post!! I refuse to be reminded of the things on MY list that are on YOUR list. So I'll just ignore this post and do what I was going to do, which is whatever I want to!!

    Have a great weekend!!
    xx, Carol

    1. Ha! Even though I managed to get quite a lot done, Carol, the effort took all my energy. Everything else will wait until the voices become intolerable again. Procrastination is a skill, isn't it?

  5. Okay, that list would intimidate anyone - even the neatniks among us. I'd put each item on a scrap of paper, put them in the winter hat I'm no long wearing, and pull one or two a day. Oh and no cheating - by peeking at a slip and putting it back!

    1. I hit the grocery store and the library, and managed a few other things on the list. The rest can wait. As long as there is food and something to read, the cats can groom themselves! And it rained so the lack of weeding wasn't even my fault! :)

Good to hear from you!
