I 've been hunkered down with one eye on the weather, finishing the fabric postcards. Lots of searching for additional elements and debating arrangements. After machine stitching, adding details, and some hand stitching, I gave them a couple of turns with a zigzag stitch to add them to the postcard backings which were cut to size from cardstock.
Each one was an experiment,
but I wanted them to tie together.
Fabric scraps, saved pieces of selvedge, bits of lace,
cardboard scrap, grosgrain ribbon, paper, a piece from an old pattern,
tulle, sari ribbon, a button, a watch face turned backward--
(on the last one; the back has a dark patina and what looks like a star).
Machine stitched, hand stitched.
Sewing thread, embroidery floss, pearl cotton...
whatever was to hand that I might try for a different effect.
I enjoyed making these.
Now I wonder if they will go through the mail.
Maybe these should be hand cancelled.
