This & That

The past two weeks have been unusually busy.  Appointment with ophthalmologist and new glasses (and I'm going to have to go back), meetings, a little office work and lunches with Amelia, and an appointment with Kelly for hearing aids!

Both Fee and I realized we had to do something about our difficulty hearing.  His hearing loss is much more severe, but my high frequency hearing loss has made deciphering some speech difficult.  Now, we can both hear a conversation without saying, "Would you please repeat that?" so frequently.   Both of us are delighted!

When not on the road, I've been upstairs in the studio playing with cloth and clay.  The house?  Well, housework has not been a priority.

 Percy Pumpkin
is finished!
From the bottom of the stand
to the tip of his punkin' head,
Percy is 10" tall.

And a little witch
The witch is 4 " tall,
but with the blocks, the total is 7 1/2"

I've been having trouble with my camera,
and the pics aren't very good.
But my Halloween Eccentrics are coming along!

Back to the studio
and WIPs....

And it is officially Fall, ya'll!

  1. Love all your Halloween 'critters'. I especially like the witch and her blocks - she's a wee little thing isn't she!

    1. Thanks, Penny! She is a tiny witch, but she has a lot of energy. I bought the blocks several years ago at a flea market; the paint was mostly worn off, but I knew they would make great stands for eccentric creatures. This year I painted a bunch of Halloween colors on them, and they work great as singles or stacks. :)

    1. The clay figures are pretty quick, but I'm working on some cloth and clay figures that take forever. Partly because I have such a hard time making decisions! I dither, and waffle, and spend hours searching for the right hair or fabric. I've made 3 hats so far for two figures and don't like any of them--I think I'm going to give them a rest for a while. :)

  4. Oh my gosh, I love them. I was showing my two Eccentrics to an artist friend this week. She loved them as do I. There is one problem, I have lost the story to my Mardi Gras dancer and I can't remember her name or her background story. It was one of those "I'll put this in a safe place" scenarios and now I can't find it. Do you remember her name? It wasn't Millie, was it?

    1. Oh! Her name was Mildred, and I don't remember what I wrote, but I know I had her thinking that "you are never to old to learn to dance!" She had a purple tutu so I thought she would be a good hostess gift for your Mardi Gras party! I'm so glad you love my little Eccentrics!

  5. OMGosh, that Percy is so perfect! I was trying to read what his bag says but I couldn't get the pic big enough. I love everything about him. Great witch too!

    1. His bag says, "Creepy Corn." But Percy is all show; he isn't really into creepy. :) Thanks, Carol!

  6. You are very talented. I especially admire how you work with the clay-is it paperclay? I think I remembered you saying it was... I've been using it for years, and I still feel so clumsy with it!!! I love your painting of your dolls too-very professional. My hearing is not so good either-I know someday I will be in line for a hearing aid. Can't wait to see what else you are working on!

    1. That is such a sweet compliment, Debra. I love your work--my all time favorite is that fox!

I do use air dry clay, Paperclay is the brand I use most frequently. I have it all over my fingers much of the time. :)
