Over the Banks; Into Everything

Worst flooding in over 70 years.

We aren't threatened in our neighborhood,
but our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes
or are still trying to stave off the river.

    1. It is amazing and dreadful. So sad for those who have lost their homes and for farmers who have lost their crops.

    1. Too many people built outside the levees, and the river went over the levees-- flooding even those who would have not expected it. Many people have lost everything.

    1. Truly a disaster for so many. It has been so long since a flood of this magnitude that most of us never considered the possibility. Now, everyone is considering how quickly our lives could turn. Human nature, I suppose.

  4. So sad to see. I can't imagine how horrible the flooding is and the effects on those that are under water.

    1. I know. I find myself trying to imagine the devastation they must feel seeing everything they own destroyed. Impossible. Entire subdivisions drowned when the sandbags could no longer keep the river out. And families helpless to stop it, despite all their efforts.

    1. Having seen flooding over the years on the news, I still find it hard to believe it happened here.

  7. Like Penny we've been away but able to keep up with home news (somewhat). These pictures really drive home the horror. You're right, life can turn on a dime and it's terrifying to think about. I guess that why most of us try not to.
