Surprise

I had the NICEST surprise yesterday!
Deb Sposa at Artisun
included me in her Featured Artist of the Month post.
:) Can't help but grin!
I'm thrilled to be in the company of her other featured artists!

I love Deb's blog,
and since her students are the real artists,
it is such fun to see what they are up to.
Wish I could be in her classes!

Thanks, Deb!
----------------

For one reason or another,
my Christmas crafting has been almost
non-existent this year.

I worked on these hearts for a while,
stuffing them with lavender.
There are quite a few more in progress,
but I haven't worked on them in over a week.
Because I don't like them as much
as I'd hoped.
But they do smell good!

Small heads for rabbit and cat eccentric figures.
The intention was to dress them
in a wintery/Christmas style,
but then I abandoned them and won't have time
to finish them for Christmas.

This is as far as I got with these characters.
I'm thinking about dressing the cat
in an Asian style,
if I ever make her/him a body.

Two more heads in progress,
and two teeny, tiny dolls in progress.
You can see one of the tiny ones in the background.

The wee ones are all clay,
and arms and legs are done,
but not attached.

They, too, will have to wait until after Christmas.

I finally gave up on this large clay head
for the rabbit I wanted to hang on the wall.
Used foil for the head, then covered with clay,
but the head is too heavy,
and after painting it several times,
I gave up.
Yanked the head off and will make a cloth head...
sometime.

Have a puddle of fabrics on the floor
that I was auditioning for clothes,
but because I could never like the head,
I couldn't decide on clothing.
-------------
An old cigar box filled with mostly vintage haberdashery items.
Covered the cigar logo with a vintage Christmas card.
Loving embroidery and textile art
as I do, a few favorite items from
 two old sewing baskets
found at a flea market years ago
seemed appropriate for a Christmas decoration.
------
Tomorrow, I'll show you a bit about
something that has taken hours more than
I anticipated:
a Christmas Treasure Hunt
for the grandkids.

Thinking is not one of my strengths,
and thinking of clues and how to lead from
one to another required more thought
than I imagined.

Aging the paper, writing the clues, deciding on activities,
(because at certain points, they will have to
sing Christmas carols, answer questions,
and perform various silly stuff),
gathering supplies, finding prizes,
and assembling the Treasure Chest
has been great fun.

I hope to finish up the last details today.
Tomorrow:  more thought on what all
is needed for the "making a Snow Globe project" with the kids.

I purchased some Ball jars for this,
but I'm not happy with them.
May try the Dollar Tree for an alternative.

I am not accustomed to having a lot on mind!

Hope all of you are enjoying the holidays!
