Today Is World Alzheimer's Day

Yesterday, I posted about this with links to AAQI and The Wall of Remembrance.

Here are some facts about Alzheimer's in Louisiana:

Estimated number of people age 65 or older with the disease.
           2000:  73,000
           2010:  83,000
           2020:  92,000
           2025:  100,00

Think of the number of caregivers and family members these numbers indicate, just in Louisiana.

Here is a link to the Alzheimer's Association 2011 Facts and Figures.  There is a list of statistics and predictions for each state included in this report, although you have to scroll down to find it.

  1. Thank you for everything you do Jen..you know, as I do what this is like. And my little 86 year old mama might live in Alaska now...but she was born and raised in your beautiful state of Louisiana and I share those roots!

  2. :) Yes, she moved a long way, didn't she? It must have been interesting when she confronted the difference in the weather! Prayers for your mother, Michele.
