This and That

I've been busy lately, playing catch-up on some things and prepare-for on others.

Good Things:

*Amelia and Emily had a tea party for little girls.

*This was my Note from the Universe today:

 Baby souls follow.

Young souls lead.

But old souls, Jen, are happy to dance alone.

Not that I'm spying on you,
    The Universe

I love that!  So often my "notes" make me smile and lift my mood.  And this old soul is in a dancing mood!

*Because to go along with my note form the universe, I won some products from Eucalan, who make non-toxic, biodegradable, phosphate free, no-rinse laundry detergent.  The Give-Away was over at The Magic Bean, and Colleen uses Eucalan to wash and block hand knits, for felting,  for treating printer ready fabric, and to soak dyed fabrics.  Thanks, Colleen!

Do check out Colleen's blog for all kinds of crafty goodness!

*I'm reading Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand (author of Seabiscuit).  My SIL and brother read it and loved and graciously loaned me their copy.  It is the story of Louie Zamperini,  a champion runner who ran in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and hoped to win a gold in the 1940 Olympics.  WWII interfered, Louie enlisted.   What he and other POWs endured is a tribute to the endurance of the human spirit.

Have a great weekend!

  2. What a beautiful setting for a tea party. I'll have to have one for the grand-daughters when it cools down a little more. Have a great weekend, Jenclair.

  7. Sherri - I did, too, but nothing so elaborate! Amelia and Emily are working on a party planning side business and use these as practice.

Unbroken is excellent. I've finished and am still thinking about it.

Mary - Right! The temps are too high to enjoy being outside much right now. More fun when it cools down again.

Cassy - Tea parties are always a hit with little girls!

Debra - :) Don't think it was cardboard or that there was anything left of the cake! Yeah, this is not your Grandma's tea party...not this grandma's at any rate. The ones I had with the girls mostly just involved getting out the tea service handed down to me by my aunt. And crackers.

A Spoonful of Sugar - Thanks, my daughter does this kind of thing very well. Unlike her mother!

Rian - It is never too late, Rian. Wait until Savannah comes to visit and throw a tea party for her!

  8. The pictures of the tea party look so sweet. Love the colours. And the food looks almost too pretty to eat it!
I just bought a little table and two little chairs for my GD. I think she's almost ready now to have tea parties too. :-)

  9. Francoise - I think mothers and grandmothers are more taken with tea parties at this age. That's OK...the little ones love any occasion for decorations and food!

  11. That is lovely! I don't think I ever had a tea party either, and of course I had no little girls to give one for. Sad.
