Saturday Sampling

Yesterday was all about errands.  Running here and there, picking up this, delivering that.  But I did have a little time for laundry  :).

Lunch was some tabouli.  I made this batch with green Durum wheat with spinach, broccoli, zucchini, baby carrot coins, sliced almonds, green onions, and golden raisins.  It was delicious, but then I love tabouli.  Aside from being very, very good, this batch was so pretty.
The green Bulgar doesn't show up so well in the picture, but looking at my bowl gave me almost as much pleasure as eating it.

My next version will be to try Aztec Tabouli with black beans.  I had some at the Sunshine Health Foods restaurant one day and liked it a lot.

Spent a little time in the studio last night:  setting the timer I usually use for my yoga practice, I'd  clean and straighten for 20 minutes while watching Dead Like Me episodes.  When the timer went off, I would work on a couple of projects (still watching DLM--which I love).

One episode took place in a plastic surgeon's office, and when the surgeon was being interviewed by a policeman, the surgeon began telling the policeman that he was chinless and needed a chin implant.  I couldn't help but chuckle when the surgeon said (paraphrased), "How in the world to you put on pillowcases!?"  Having changed bed linens the day before, the remark tickled me.

Finished the Irish Lass, but in the end it is difficult to see much of the bottle opener; however, at least she has hair and is no longer bald like in the previous post.

Thanks again, Mila and Max for all the neat vintage items you gave me...I like the way the bottle opener turned out, even if it kind of disappeared into the doll.  What do you think?  I'm not sure which of your presents I will work on next.

Mardi Gras parades start this weekend.  I'm not much on the big parades, but I'm excited about the Highland Parade next weekend.  It is a neighborhood event (rather than the big parades that draw way too many people), and this year we will be attending a party at a friend's house.  At the bottom,  the invitation said :  "Bring a pillowcase and take home a kitten."

Loved that little note, but already have enough cats!
:)
Yesterday was library day (one of my errands), and I cut down on the number of books I checked out because there are so many ARCs that have arrived lately.  And I still haven't caught up on all of my reviews.  Just finished one that I really enjoyed because it is about the Eighth Air Force and some of the airmen.  The Bomber Boys:  Heroes Who Flew the B-17s in World War II.  Laddie was a navigator with the Mighty Eighth, and I learned a lot from the stories about the various airmen.  As soon as I'm caught up on my other reviews, I'll review this one over at A Garden in My Pocket.

O.K.--back up stairs to play with my crafty stuff!

  2. Yes, your Irish Lass looks great. And the green tabouleh looks delicious. I have to try this.
My Friday was about running errands too, but I didn't manage to do the laundry!

  3. Sherri - Thanks, Sherri! She was fun to make.

Francoise - Well, only one load of laundry, and I didn't fold it and put it away until Sat. morning!

Tabouleh is a favorite because it is so quick and easy. I don't like waiting for it after it goes in the fridge, though. Waiting is not one of my strong points.

  4. What a wonderful bottle opener!! I have found that by setting the timer in the studio I can get a lot done in 20 minutes. Amazing.
