catching up

I've been absent for more than a week!  Big doings with
Easter at the camp from Friday--Sunday, then Erin and the kids came home with us and spent the night at the house Sunday night.  They headed back to Baton Rouge on last Monday.

Such a great Easter week-end, the threatened storms missed us, and the weather was wonderful.  On Friday night, we took the kids on an elf hunt (a tradition) through the woods.  We spotted a couple of elf houses with ladders, and Mila and Max saw "shadows" running through the woods when we frightened the elves off.  (deer stands have been appropriated by elves; the kids, however, know nothing of deer stands and an awful lot about elves!)  Bryce Eleanor was just as excited and kept saying, "Elves!"
On the way back, I saw a flash in the dark of the woods.  Chris stopped the Polaris, and turned off the lights.  Everywhere...Fireflys!  It was magical!

Saturday was the Easter egg hunt, and lots of friends joined in for lunch and hunting.

When it began getting dark, it was time for another elf hunt, with more kids.  John David, Elizabeth, Blanton, Olivia, and Maddie joined Mila, Max, and Bryce Eleanor and the adults in a kind of caravan.  It seems that the elves had stolen some of the Easter decorations and had a party of their own!  More fireflies (or as Olivia called them, "flyerflys")!

Easter morning was hectic as the sugar and exhaustion from the previous day came into play, but the Easter Bunny was good to the kids.  Adults had French Toast and Eggs Benedict and Sausage and Mimosas!

Better late than never is my current motto.

  1. What a wonderful day! Your house is beautiful, by the way, when are you going to take us on a tour?

And where are the crowns, I was hoping to see them. The pink marshmallows are darling! I want some!

  2. The kids, young and old, are beautiful, and having so much fun! I can't wait to get to NY and see "my" fireflies...how I love them and we don't have them here. I agree with Rian, those pink marshmallows are great! I bet that was a SWEET treat! =-) Welcome back, we've missed you!

  3. rian - It was a great Easter weekend. The pictures were all taken down at the Raft Bayou Camp, not my house, but a family camp.

I didn't get any pictures of the kids wearing crowns! I'll have to ask Erin and Amelia to take pictures and share with me, but Mila's was a little to large and although I thought I'd finished Bryce Eleanor's, I'd failed to add the closure. Hmmm--typical. Nor did the crowns compete with the candy!

Debby - Our daughters and grandchildren are beautiful and talented (of course, that is a mother/grandmother's opinion). I know you are looking forward to getting "home" to NY, and I'm looking forward to the pictures!
