Relax and Breathe

My gosh, I haven't even been home two weeks and things have really been hopping. My father fell out of his bed at the nursing home and broke his nose. After 5 hours at the emergency room last Friday, they released him back to the home, and he seemed to be doing well. Then, an infection in a skin tear caused more concern, but by Tuesday things seemed to be settling in to routine.

Last week, my husband's cardiologist said he needed a heart catherization. Yesterday, we spent all day on that one, but although he has blockage in 3 arteries, it is not to the point of a stent, and he was able to come. He will be on blood pressure and cholesterol medication -- along with a severely curtailed diet. The diet is going to be the hard part! Some of his favorite foods are now verboten.

He will have to be a couch potato through Sunday...WHICH WILL NOT BE EASY ON ANYONE. He is normally on the go all the time; being told that he can go from the chair to the bed is a challenge.

The doctor, however, was very serious in his instructions, and Fee is trying to behave. Then this morning he woke up with some kind of reaction to a) the dye from yesterday's procedure, or b) the cholesterol medication. Now, he has to hold off on the new medications until the reaction abates. Whew! Poor man, he has a lot to absorb in the last week.

There have been a number of minor emergencies as well and my computer has been behaving oddly. Also, had to delete entirely the new FireFox and return to an older version. I'm not sure what was going on, but on top of an already recalcitrant computer, problems with FireFox were not worth the effort. The older version now is installed and working fine.

I have 4 or 5 books to review, but have had no time or inclination lately to get that done.

All the calm garnered in Austin has been put to good use, but I have to find a way to replenish! OOOOMMMMM!

  1. Oh my, what a full plate you have before you, and I feel confident that you will manage quite well. I hope you can find a few 'me moments' now and then for yourself!

  5. Connie - :) The "full" plate is missing, as we try to comply with the new diet! Things are better today, and I'm looking for new ways to please his palate without using his favorites!

Gerrie - Thanks, Gerrie-- I know you've been through a frightening experience with Mr. C!

Debra - Big Grin on that idea!

ACey - Yep, I pulled out the embroidery and am using it to keep calm! Knitting, crocheting, and embroidery should be right up there with anti-anxiety meds for stress relief.

  6. You certainly will need to practice the deep breathing. Hope things improve real soon.

  8. Kay - Inhale, exhale! Things are much better!

Nan - It has been hectic, but not horrible. Each situation seems to work itself out, and both Laddie and Fee are doing quite well. I appreciate your thoughts!
