Another Year Older...

Friday night was my 60th birthday -- or as Fee had them put it on the cake...

I didn't get down to the cabin until after dark, and it was just Fee, me, Robin, and Marty. We had dinner and relaxed and visited. My birthday began on Friday, but lasted the entire week end and (as Kim remembered from a post from about 5-6 months ago) I plan on celebrating all year long!

Saturday morning, I took pictures of the pillows on our bed in our cabin. Fee bought me this bed for our anniversary early in our marriage, and we eventually moved it into Erin's room when we got a queen size bed. Now we've moved it to the cabin.

Robin gave me these DELICIOUS nuts with all kinds of delicious stuff mixed in and a measuring cup because a serving size is 1/4 cup. I just kept eating 1/4 cups until I had quite a few servings!
Fee gave me this wonderful carved Buddha which I adore!

Saturday was quiet, but the kids began coming in that afternoon. Amelia, Bryce, and Chris.
Later, Erin, Max, and Mila.
Nieces Megan.
and Katie...Megan made this awesome handmade journal! I love handmade books and am so proud of this one. She chose the design and had it screen printed on the cover. So many treasures.
The necklace is from Amelia and Chris. It has a quote from Emerson: "what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."I had originally planned to give myself a birthday party and crone-ing celebration with just the women and girls, but with all of the things that kept coming up, I never got around to planning it. For some reason, I have been in the most joyful mood for the last week and this lovely, relaxed weekend will always be one of my favorite memories.

Came home Sunday night to enjoy the glorious flowers Erin sent. Today has been hectic, but after tonight's yoga class, I began trying to recount my blessings.

  1. I got a giggle out of the message on your cake. Very clever. :)

  8. happiest of birthdays!! and may the year long celebration bring forth many adventures, joy, and memories to sustain you for the next 20+20+20 years!!!

    wonderful photos!!

  9. Julie - This from the man who, when I left him a note telling him we had a mouse, left me a note saying that we already have a dog, I would have to give the mouse away!

Kim - Thanks! I'm really on a pillow kick, but in the back of my mind is a large quilt. The largest one I've ever made was crib size and most of my projects are so small. When I get the courage...

Francoise - Thank you! It looks to be a wonderful year -- and decade!

Caron - Thanks, Caron; you can understand why we didn't want to risk candles!

  10. virtualquilter - Whew! That 20th birthday was a long time ago!

suesueb - You should definitely continue celebrating as long as possible! I'm planning on enjoying this achievement as long as I can!

Karoda - I'm making a list of presents for myself--mostly sewing related. Perfect excuse to get what I want!

kimy - Adventures, joy, and memories - that is such a lovely way to put it! Much to look forward to!

  11. Congratulations on making it to 60! (I am right behind you.) You have a lovely family and are richly blessed. May you continue to be healthy, and may your hands continue to busy for many, many years to come.

    (PS Love the Buddha!)

  12. Hippo birdy!! You are the same age as my baby sister. She will have her anniversary later this month. I just love those whimsical pillows.

  13. Happy Happy Birthday! I love the sentiment on the cake, very witty. And I covet that Buddha, it is gorgeous, lucky you.

  14. belated good wishes. You look marvelous! And the glimpses of your gifts look equally wonderful. Fee's so funny ...

  15. I had my 60th birthday on Monday, November 3rd. It too was fun with family and friends and lots of presents. Congratulations on yours.

  16. rian - :) Thanks! I think busy hands have a lot to do with both physical and mental health. Oh, and emotional health!

Gerrie - Hippo Birdy to Ewe, too! We've both had impressive birthdays lately!

JulieZS - Ha! My husband thought it was kinder that way. Then he had them include the big 6-0 at the end. The Buddha is cool, isn't he?

  19. Please accept my LATE happy birthday wishes...obviously I'm behind in reading blog posts and have not been on the computer much. I love the cake and the photos are great! Welcome to the ain't so bad. I am the same age as you for a couple more weeks still. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEN!!!
