Busy-ness & Birthdays

I've not been keeping up lately. Is it because it's summer? I've got several projects in the works and, between working on them and keeping up with life in general, blogging has taken a back seat.

Still working on the embroidery pieces. The other one is almost finished, and this one is moving along. This was based on a child's toy that I sketched a few months ago. I'm actually a little further along on this one than is apparent in this picture. This package (fat quarters and slightly larger pieces, an extra pack of quilting needles, and an extra thimble that I'd bought and never opened) is ready to go for the Iowa Quilters in Need as mentioned in the previous post. It should have been in the mail yesterday, but I was rushed when leaving and failed to take it with me. When I finally got home, going back to the P.O. was too much trouble. So...today, for sure.

Another postcard size piece.
I've also begun piecing some small nine patch blocks from scraps and leftover pieces that will make a cute baby quilt.

Today is Max's Birthday. He is two years old! Now that is difficult to believe. There will be a low-key party for him this weekend in Baton Rouge, but I don't know whether we will make it down or not. Fee is out of town right now and will be all week. I didn't send his pillow because I'd hoped we might be going... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAX!
