Progress...

I finished the bee balm tonight. I have a couple of frames and will try them to see if either will work. It is a not an exact frame size , but should work in an 8 x 10 mat opening. I used variegated thread for the quilting and just drew a design--a little at a time, as it rubs off pretty quickly.

Next, I will either work on the cone flowers or...

the crane...

Erin and the kids are coming tomorrow to spend the weekend! Perfect timing. Especially since my new friend Alyssa (who is also four-years-old) told me Tuesday night that we could all play together if Mila came to visit. I've already been invited to come over and fix chocolate chip cookies and spend the night and watch movies!

  1. Apparently you rate with Alyssa. Hey, could you send a few of those cookies over my way? I have my own videos. he he he

  2. Connie -- At first, Ayssa and her grandmother were going to make the cookies, but on a second issue of the invitation, she said we could "all make cookies and bring them!" She likes Ariel, do you have the Little Mermaid video?

  3. Hey that crane looks related to "my" bird, fabric-wise. Also love the variegated quilting. Enjoy your social whirlwind with the girls!

  4. Alyssa knows a compatriot when she sees one! It's wonderful to see your work again. I love the flowers, and the batik background for the crane is absolutely perfect--great choice.

  5. I just LOVE these flowers, JenClair! Are they original designs by you? That are wonderful! And the Crane is just adorable! I wish I had some artistic talent. :D

inspiring work! recently I have been on a binge of using variegated thread for hand-quilting!

  7. acey -- I've had that batik for quite a while and finally found a way to use some of it! On the black and white, if I like a fabric, I tend to use it until it's gone! An' I do love my black and whites!

Sadly, talked to Erin this morning, and she's decided not to come. Will have to wait a while longer.

Jane Ann - Alyssa is so charming that I feel lucky to be her friend. But with something like chocolate chip cookies in common, it seems a natural!

Angie -- I guess they are original designs! :) Never thought of it that way since I "design" as I go. Thanks, Angie, you've made me feel really good! The crane

  8. continued...

The flowers were based on some from the garden, but the crane was based on a sculpture. So...I guess they aren't really original designs. :)

kimy -- Awww, they canceled on me! Hope to try again soon to get them together.

It is fun to watch the changes in variegated thread when hand quilting, isn't it?
