Red sky at morning--

Early this morning, I located my camera to take pictures of the sunrise. Thinking of the old sailor's maxim: "Red sky at morning/Sailors take warning." It does feel like rain right now, but rain or not, this was a spectacular way to begin the day.

Yesterday, I took Laddie to see Aunt Mary in Minden. She was feeling well and looked great. We had a nice visit and a delicious lunch (that included excellent greens and hot water corn bread) at a nearby locally owned restaurant.
Then we went by to visit Aunt Janice, and Laddie gave her a picture of Uncle Max (her husband, Laddie's brother) in his WWII uniform, and I gave her a picture of her grand-nephew Max, the newest member of the family.

I found this link through a QA Digest post and, for anyone who might be interested, am including it here-- Hattiesburg Quilt Show video.

  1. Oh, c'mon. What kind of a bumpkin do you take me for? That's not Uncle Max--it's Ronald Coleman, right? WHAT a handsome man! (I mean the one in uniform, but the one on his back is no slouch either!)

  3. Jane Ann: He DOES look like Ronald Coleman, doesn't he?! And, yeah, the little guy on his back is kinda' cute, too - but then, I'm his grandma.

Oh, and you are now a "no-repy" blogger, too.

  7. Wow! Your morning red sky is redder than my evening red sky. Wouldn't you love to be able to get those colors into a quilt?

Jean-Sophie - it was really gorgeous with lots of deep pink and purple!

Fran - the colors were luscious, and I'd love them in a quilt!

  13. Debra, we actually did get some rain, thank goodness. Max is pretty hefty, don't think I could afford the postage!

Angie, they are handsome fellows, aren't they? I'm completely under little Max's spell.

  14. Love the red sky...I am surprised you guys in LA didn't get the weather we had in Central Texas yesterday! It poured, 60 mph winds, etc.

Love the photos. I write a genealogy column, and that WWII photo is wonderful!

  15. Sioux - all that bad weather went somewhere else. We needed more rain, but glad to avoid too much.

I'm working on some genealogy myself, inspired partly by photographs. Would love to read your column. You, Shelina, and Jane Ann are all interested in genealogy; wonder how many other quilters are...
