I'm so lame...

In yesterday's comments, Jane Ann mentioned her banner...doesn't it look great? Especially with the old patterns framed underneath.

For the last two days, Blogger has refused to add pictures. BAD BLOGGER!

Deborah sent me this by email, but when I visited her blog, she has it posted there with her answers. Here are her instructions:

Participate with me on this. This is what you are supposed to do, and try not to be LAME and spoil the fun! Just give in and do it. Copy, not forward, this entire e-mail and paste it into new email. Change all the answers so that they apply to you then send this to a whole bunch of people you know *including* the person who sent it to you. Put your name in the subject. The theory is that you will learn a lot of little known facts about your friends. It is fun and easy 48 questions to answer. Work with me!

I had to laugh because I AM lame, and if she hadn't included that and the "Work with me!", I'd probably have just read her answers and moved on. Instead, I "gave in and did it." It is a revealing little meme, but not a serious one. Anyone who wants to participate, feel free, and please leave me a link in the comment sections so I can check it out (I'm so nosy).

  1. You know how I love lists, so I'll probably give this one a try, but it may be a little while. I'll save it and post it on a "slow news" day. ;-)

  2. Of all the meme's I've done, I think this one was the most revealing, at least to mef it was the questions, or whether the timing of some of the questions were so good. IAs I said, my system killed all my answers. I am reconsidering doing this again, some day.

  3. Deb - hope you will post on your blog. The ones I've gotten back through email are interesting and fun.

Shelina - I understand about re-doing something after working on it, and I'm sorry it disappeared because it sounds as if you put a lot of thought into it.

  6. LOVE your idea of writing down childhood memories for the grandchildren. Why didn't I think of that?! What we genealogists wouldn't give for a resource like that.

  7. Jane Ann -- Since I failed to get the information I would have loved to have from parents and grandparents, I wanted to leave my grandchildren with some ideas about the world I grew up in, mostly small and personal, but with some world events as well.

Shelina suggested incorporating artifacts like letters, newspaper articles, pictures of places people worked, etc. I love that idea. I so regret all of the things my parents threw away during their many moves. Laddie mentioned regretting finally disposing of all of his orders and postings from WWII. He held on to them for several years, then on a move, decided that no one would be interested. I was about 8 and, at the time, had no knowledge of the loss, but even then I'd have loved them (he was such a hero to me).

Wouldn't we all like to know more about those distant ancestors? Have more of their letters, journals, relics, and remnants from their lives?
